Public Health Threats: A Global Concern

Public health is one of the major concerns of various governments across the globe; with billions of dollars spend on it annually. The modern lifestyle of people and the changing environment has caused the uprising of health threats that put the lives of people in danger in a daily basis. With this, countries are faced with the challenged of improving health services to the people and of strengthening institutions that focus on these services. Over time, health concerns widen; demanding for more abrupt efforts from those that are tasked to ensure that the health of the public is preserved in the optimum level.

Public health threats come in various forms and are present in different places. Even at home, people are not totally safe from the possibilities of acquiring diseases that may put their life in jeopardy. Apart from common elements present in the home that can cause certain diseases, there is also the danger of getting sick from unhealthy products that people use every day. These along with food and medicine that people take can be considered public health threats if not properly used or regulated by the authorities.

Outside the home, public health threats are also present. They are there in the streets at the rush of running vehicles, at work where exposure to stress, toxins, and other dangers are present. Automobiles can cause threats due to their unhealthy fumes and also due to accidents. This is why car insurance is mandatory in the U.S. and cheap auto insurance is in high demand. Through the years, countless recorded mortalities due to unsafe labor practices and traffic hitches compounds from reports from all over the world. And although these problems have considerably reduced in first- world countries, they continue to rise in regions where progress and development remains to be a constant struggle.

These factors make public health threat as an enormous concern in the global arena; challenging the present international status quo on health promotion and disease prevention.
